  • What is Flu-X®?
Flu-X® antiviral spray is indicated to reduce the risk of contracting influenza and the common cold and, also, to reduce the progression of symptoms following contraction by inhibiting the replication of both A and B influenza viruses and some other common cold viruses. By inhibiting viral replication, Flu-X is able to reduce the risk of contraction and, when administered after contraction, is able to reduce the risk of developing severe symptoms and potentially developing complications. In this way, it also offers the benefit of reduced duration of symptoms and accelerated recovery.
  • What are the Flu-X® ingredients?
Flu-X® is a formulation of extracts from five herbs: Jujubae Fructus, Santali albi Lignum, Chuanxiong Rhizoma, Glycyrrhizae Radix and Atractylodis Rhizoma. The patented formulation has been standardized to guarantee specific ratios and levels of the active components of these herbs. The active constituents have been extracted using modern, low-temperature, extraction technology so as to preserve the herbal properties. The product is manufactured in a GMP facility.
  • How does Flu-X® work?
Flu-X® spray is dispersed over the epithelial lining of the nose and throat in the upper respiratory tract, which is the initial entry point of the virus. Flu-X® prevents the virus from attaching to receptors in the epithelial lining of the nose and throat, thereby impeding both the initial contraction of colds and flu, and by impeding the replication of the virus, thus cutting short its life cycle. The mechanism of Flu-X® means that the duration and severity of colds and flu are reduced. • Used regularly when you believe you are at risk, Flu-X® can reduce the likelihood of contracting the virus • Used at the first sign of symptoms, Flu-X® can reduce the likelihood of further development of the disease.
  • How is Flu-X® different from other anti-flu products?
Anti–viral studies conducted on Flu-X® have demonstrated that, unlike some currently available natural OTC cold and flu products, which have a gradual action of supporting the immune system, Flu-X’s therapeutic mechanism is to inhibit both hemagglutinin and neuraminidase, which are large glycoproteins found on the surface of a flu virus. Although these can stimulate an immune response by triggering antibody production, they are, in fact, key protagonists in the contraction and development of the flu virus: • Hemagglutinin attaches to the epithelial cells of the respiratory tract to initiate the infection • Neuraminidase acts to release viral particles to perpetuate the infectious cycle By inhibiting these, Flu-X is able a) to reduce the risk of initial infection and b) reduce the risk of further development of the disease and its symptoms.
  • How is Flu-X® superior to other cold and flu treatments?
Most anti-flu and cold products on the market are taken orally and absorbed into the bloodstream through digestive processes that can take an hour or longer before having any effect on cold and flu symptoms. By contrast, the application of a direct nasal and oral spray has an immediate effect by blocking the action of the viral mediators, preventing replication and development of the flu virus.
  • Could Flu-X® be used for the prevention of cold and flu infections?
Yes, Flu-X® Can be used to minimize the risk of infection as well as for the relief of cold and flu symptoms and the minimization of disease duration: • Yes, if you are exposed to someone who is experiencing cold or flu symptoms • Yes, if you are in an environment where there is potential for some people to have cold or flu symptoms • Yes, if you feel the onset of a cold or flu developing
  • How is Flu-X® administered?
For Adults: Position the spray nozzle and gently insert the tip into the opening of the nostril. Apply two pumps to each nostril, then gently position the tip of the spray nozzle into the mouth and direct two pumps to the back of the throat. Repeat this three times per day for up to seven days. For Children Six Years and Older: Position the spray nozzle and gently insert the tip into the opening of the nostril. Apply one pump to each nostril, then gently position the tip of the spray nozzle into the mouth and direct one pump to the back of the throat. Repeat this three times per day for up to seven days. It is not recommended to give Flu-X® to children under 6 years of age.
  • What are the side effects, contraindications and cautions related to the use of Flu-X®?
No side effects or adverse reactions were observed in human clinical trials, HOWEVER: • Flu-X® should not be given to children under 6 years of age. Although there are no known reactions or contraindications when administered in combination with other drugs, treatments or in the presence of specified disease conditions, individuals should consult with a physician if the symptoms continue after 7 days of taking Flu-X®. Flu-X® has not been tested with pregnant or breastfeeding women and is therefore not recommended for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. If you are taking prescription medications, have a serious condition, suffer from allergies, or are pregnant, breastfeeding or lactating, please consult a health care practitioner prior to use.
  • What are the Flu-X® recommendations for shelf life and storage?
Flu-X® should be stored in a cool dry place out of the reach of children. It has a shelf life of two years when sealed but once opened, it should be refrigerated and used before the expiry date. If stored unrefrigerated, for best results, Flu-X® should be used within seven days of opening.
  • What evidence supports Flu-X® efficacy and safety?
Flu-X® has undergone numerous scientific studies and animal and human clinical trials including double-blind placebo-controlled clinical trials, the results of which demonstrate that Flu-X® kills both the Influenza A and B viruses and common cold coronavirus on contact, thus preventing the contraction of these viruses. A double-blind, randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial of 153 patients with viral upper respiratory tract infection demonstrated a recovery rate of 82.9% in the Flu-X® group compared to 19.6% in the placebo control group. Further, comparative in-vivo studies on mice confirm the product’s superiority to Interferon (a leading antiviral pharmaceutical) in their antiviral defence against the influenza virus, with the Flu-X® group offering a protection rate of 55% against 40% for the interferon group. In scientific studies, Flu-X® has been shown to inhibit H. influenzae, Staphylococcus aureus and A-β-hemolytic streptococcus bacteria strains associated with secondary flu-related bacterial infections. Three human clinical trials conducted on Flu-X® at several hospitals confirm that Flu-X® lessens the transmission of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) and improves Quality of Life. The trials also confirm that Flu-X® significantly inhibits SARS-CoV virus replication, affects virus morphology, and exerts anti-inflammatory activity against the SARS-CoV virus.
  • What dose of Flu-X® is recommended for the prevention and management of flu and colds?
For Adults: Position the spray nozzle and gently insert the tip into the nose and apply two pumps in each nostril, then gently position the spray nozzle tip into the mouth and repeat with two pumps to the back of the throat. Repeat this three times per day for up to seven days. For Children Six Years and Older: Position the spray nozzle and gently insert the tip into the nose and apply one pump in each nostril, then gently position the nozzle tip in the mouth and repeat with one pump to the back of the throat. Repeat this three times per day for up to seven days.
  • Can children under 6 take Flu-X®?
Although Flu-X® was administered to children between the ages of 3 – 6 years during the 2003 SARS epidemic and was shown to be safe and effective, it is not recommended to give Flu-X® to children under 6 years of age.
  • Can Flu-X® be used as a prevention against cold and flu?
Yes, if you are exposed to someone who is experiencing cold or flu Yes, if you are in an environment where there could be sick people Yes, if you feel the onset of a cold or flu developing
  • Are there any cautions and warnings related to taking Flu-X® that needs to be considered?
Flu-X® should not be given to children under 6 years of age. If you are taking prescription medications, have a serious condition, suffer from allergies, or are pregnant, breastfeeding or lactating, please consult a health care practitioner prior to use
